This parchment color rocker with its black base was purchased new in September 1959 by Sonya (Sonny) and Adrian Harris for $29.64, including sales tax.
They used it in their homes continuously, until 2011, when it entered the collection of your editor.
From a note placed by Adrian Harris, Vice Chancellor Emeritus, UCLA, on the underside of the seat: "Sonny was working for Integrated Design Associates and became acquainted with the chair through her job. She wanted to have it to nurse their first child, Robin Beth, who was born on October 15. Adrian's favorite picture of Robin, at age two weeks, is of mother and child in the chair. Another favorite picture shows Robin at age four years holding her new baby brother at age two weeks in the same chair."
