Upholstered in Alexander Girard denim colored fabric, on a white fiberglass armshell.
Typical of 1980s shells, this has loose washers, not affixed shock mounts.
Herman Miller produced Eames rocking chairs, named "RAR", for the general public from 1950 to 1968.
From 1968 to 1984 these chairs were no longer available to the general public. Herman Miller reserved Eames RARs as gifts for Herman Miller employees with new born babies. The mothers were encouraged to pick out the fabric and shell combination, and the name of the child and the child's birthdate was inscribed on a brass plaque screwed to the back of these chairs.
