Early in the first year of production this version of the chair was discontinued, as the Eames Office substituted the wire configuration that is found on today's rockers. One wonders if this change was made because sitting on this version of the rocking chair is challenging because the way in which the wires cross in front is too close to the heels of many. This problem was resolved quickly; the wires which on this chair cross very close to the front, were moved to the side.
This example came from the original owner, a Los Angeles architect who acquired it from the Eames Office in 1950. All parts are original to this chair, including the screws.
